MANURE BOOSTER 10kg Industrial Container - DEGRADER is a powdered blend of selectively adapted organisms blended with crude enzymes and emulsifiers specifically designed to liquefy, digest and deodourise agricultural wastes
· Digests cellulosic fibers, proteins, fats and residual carbohydrates in animal wastes.
· Improves consistency of waste for pumping.
· Retards odour generation in animal waste.
· Maximizes fertilizer value of animal waste material.
Odour control for confinement areas for swine, cattle and poultry; barns; holding tanks; manure pits; drainage systems and waste lagoons.
Confinement areas: Soak each 10 grams of product in a minimum of 1 Litre of hand warm water for approximately 30 minutes. Spray all areas of waste accumulation. Apply weekly. When washed down, these areas will then seed pits. Specific application rate may be varied depending on amount of waste and tolerable odour level; however, entire confinement area should be sprayed with each application.
Lagoons: Dosage rate is dependent on size of lagoon. Initial seeding dosage is 100 Gram of MANURE DEGRADER for every 2500 to 3000 Litre of waste applied weekly for one month. Reduce to 50 Gram/ 3000 Litres of waste per week thereafter. Application should be made through a spray system, slurrying each 100 Gram of product in 2 Litres of water and soaking 30 minutes before spraying.
Waste Pits: Bacterial action breaks up gelatinous or solid matrix in waste pits. Soak 100 Gram in 2 to 4 Litres of water and spray through a suitable, clean agricultural sprayer. Cultures must be sprayed evenly over the entire surface to be effective in liquefying surface scum. Initial dosage of 100 grams per 1000 Litres should be applied weekly until improvement in odour and consistency is determined (2-3 Weeks). Dosage may then be reduced to 100 grams per 2500 - 3000 Litres dosed on a monthly basis. Dosage rate may be varied for specific applications.

A 160-head beef cattle production facility in Osaka, Japan operates a manure composting process that typically requires between 100 and 140 days for completion, depending on the time of year (Figures 1, 2, and 3). The finished product is used as fertilizer. As with many areas where suburban development has encroached on traditional farm-land, manure odors strain relations with the neighbors. The severest odor problems occur early in the composting cycle when the manure is mixed by tractors. During the first week in particular, the ammonia fumes can be strong enough to burn the eyes. Prior to the use of Manure Degrader Plus, various bio-products had been tried without significant improvement.
Figure 1. View of fresh sawdust bedding.
Use of Manure Degrader Plus resulted in significantly reduced odor during initial composting and a 10-20 day acceleration of the compost cycle over a 3-week period as evidenced by higher sustained composting temperatures, improved color, lower agglomeration, and higher porosity.
Figure 3. View of manure composting area.
The treatment involves a one-time application of Manure Degrader Plus at a rate of 0.5 kg/ 1000 kg (1.0 lb / 2000 lb.) of manure. A slurry of the product is prepared by rehydrating it with mixing for 30 minutes at a ratio of 1 kg/L (8.5 lb/ gal). The slurry is then sprayed onto the manure and immediately mixed, followed by weekly mixing throughout the composting period.
Figure 2. View of bedding prior to transfer to the compost area.
Compost progress is followed by observing compost temperature, color, odor, agglomeration, and porosity. The table below presents data for each of these measures during the first three weeks of composting. In each case, the temperature was measured 30 cm (12 in) beneath the surface after mixing; color was observed 30 cm (12 in) beneath the surface just prior to mixing; and odor was measured subjectively just after breaking the manure surface. Agglomeration, or clumping tendency, provides an indication of compost progress and is typically high during the early stages of composting, but diminishes over time as the manure ages. Porosity is related to agglomeration, and provides another indication of compost progress. It typically starts low and increases over time as the manure ages, and is indicated by the weight of a load on the tractor shovel during mixing. Figures 4 and 5 below show the manure after 30 days.
