This listing is for an inside/outside caliper. It's quite old but is in great shape. I believe it is hardened stainless steel. There is not a bit of rust on it anywhere. It was made by the Almkvist MG Tools Company in New York. The tool itself was made in Sweden.
The jaws slide freely and are nice and snug. Not loose at all. There is a spring loaded release lever that locks/unlocks the jaws when measuring. It works just fine. This tool measures inside as well as outside demensions. It measures in 1/128inch or 1/1000inch increments. It allows outside and inside measurements to just over 5 1/4 inches.
The only thing I can find wrong with it is a little piece of the center slide piece is chipped on the very end. It does not take away from the look of it nor does it affect the measurments in any way. You can't even see the chip when the tool is closed all of the way. Someone did engrave their initials (A.S.) and the # 8 on the back side of the tool. Also the letters W.E.CO.
