Why should i use epoxy powder coating primer? gray coat

Q: Why should I use a primer under powder coating???
A: Why go through all the work without maximizing the corrosion resistance of your powder coated parts and projects? A primer is recommended for applications that are exposed to the element such as rain, snow, road salt, and salt water(*). Powder coating Primer is simple to apply: First apply the primer just like any other powder and cure the primer for 7 minutes at 400 deg F (metal temp). Then apply the top coat just like any powder and fully cure the top coat following recommended cure schedule for the top coat. A primer is usually not required for indoor applications. On the other hand, I would not consider powder coating any of the following parts without using a primer: car frames, motorcycle frames, car suspension parts, boat parts, trailer parts, motorcycle parts, ATV parts, snowmobile parts, etc. etc. *A zinc rich primer is recommended for salt water marine use. This is a zinc free epoxy primer.

When using with a top coat, cure 7 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit metal temperature, apply top coat, and cure top coat at the recommended cure time and temperature for the top coat. 3) Minnesota residents are subject to 6.5% sales tax. 4) Due to differences in monitor settings and many other factors, the color of your completed part can differ from the sample in the picture.
