Ordinary probes WILL NOT pick up weak Betas like from TC-99 the most common medical isotope.
The Short Stack DOES pick up Alphas, Betas, weak Betas, X-Rays, and weak plus strong Gamma Rays.
The overall sensitivity is much greater than most any all metal tube by a large factor. Nothing else can equal the *SENSITIVITY* plus *WIDE RANGE* of radiation detected, even $1000.00+ scintillators which will not work on many insrtuments.
Up to 300,000 counts per minute form a common smoke detector element. Zero on an ordinary probe.
**The probe does all the work in any Geiger Counter. The meter unit merely reports what the probe sees. If the probe can't see it, it can't be counted. The probe is what does all the work in any system.
