New jet delta vacuum chuck kit for wood lathe o ay also
Vacuum chucking is one of those things that has to be seen to be believed! Put your piece against the face plate, turn on the vacuum and turn on your lathe. Your piece is held quickly and securely. Work is not marked and can be removed instantly when the vacuum is turned off. With this set up you will be able to add a professional touch quickly and easily to almost all your work. Vacuum allows wood turners to hold bowls and plates in a lathe without marking up the piece w/ clamps. vacuum is like suction, the air around you weighs about 14 pounds per square inch, but we do not feel it, like gravity, it is there, but we do not notice. If we remove some of it, the remaining air weight comes into play, providing a perfect, uniform clamp! Very easy to use, screw on to one side of the lathe , turn vacuum on, place work on face plate, apply light pressure, allow vacuum seal to be made, release part, turn lathe by hand to ensure item is centered, adjust as needed. It will also do raw edged work by making the disc conform to the inside of the bowl or plate as well. All high quality, brand new components, No junk here! The vacuum goes thru the head stock shaft, it must be hollow The photo shows a 1x 8tpi, RH adapter, which may be different from what your lathe needs, but all the rest is the same. It screws onto one side of the lathe. A high speed rotay union screws into this and allows vacuum to enter without twisting up the hose. This is not a normal fitting it has a bearing and sels inside it to allow high speeds without twisting up the hose. This connects to a brass tee w/ a 2 1/2" vacuum gauge and brass check valve. (The check valve isolates the vacuum and helps keep the piece in place if vacuum loses suction, and by reading gauge, you can ensure you are working with a safe vacuum level to start the lathe) NPT Fittings are includes, as well as a supply of vacuum hose.
What is missing: You also need a vacuum source such as a vacuum generator to run off a good sized air compressor or a vacuum pump Please feel free to ask any questions , I include detailed tips, instructions on how to use this.
One way or another, I can do 98% of all lathes, so feel free to ask questions. I can help you identify your thread.
